This branch of dentistry focuses on preventing and treating diseases of the dental pulp, which is located ‘inside’ of our teeth.  At Nanoose Bay Dental Centre we evaluate and diagnose issues that may be happening inside your tooth. Often, when a tooth becomes inflamed or infected from the inside, we prescribe root canal therapy, which means that we remove the nerve and other tissue of the pulp cavity and fill it with a material called gutta-percha. Afterwards, we restore the tooth with a filling or crown allowing your tooth will continue to function as normal.

A mouth guard is a protective device that covers the teeth and gums to prevent and reduce injury to your mouth and jaw joints. Temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders commonly called ‘TMJ’, are a group of conditions that cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement. Symptoms can include pain or tenderness around the ear, the jaw joint or the muscles of the jaw. You may have trouble opening or closing your mouth and hear ‘popping’ or ‘clicking’ noises when you chew.
